Explorum Forum
On a quarterly basis, CAFfeine sponsors Explorum Forum, a participatory group discussion about contemporary art. At each free event the work of three contemporary artists is presented, then dissected and discussed by the group as a whole. Explorum Forum is a great way to learn more about contemporary art and how it both influences and is influenced by culture, history, and popular conceptions of ideals such as beauty.

February's Explorum Forum will focus on the works of contemporary ceramics artists.

Explorum Forum: Wednesday February 24, 2010 7pm
The Warehouse Theater, located at 37 Augusta Street in downtown Greenville.

This event is free and open to the public. Everyone is welcome.

Maya Adams-Smith | a body of work
CAFfeine artist Maya Adams-Smith will be showcasing a selection of her porcelain and mixed media sculptures entitled A Body of Work from February 11 – 27 at The Warehouse Theater, located at 37 Augusta Street in downtown Greenville.

The pieces included in this body of work originate from the dark side of humanity's interaction with and control over the natural world. The sculptures embody this control through a merging of discomforting organic and man-made imagery. Ultimately, these works ask the audience to consider humanity's impact on and responsibility for the natural world.

The artist holds an MFA in Ceramics from Clemson University and a BFA in Ceramics from the New York State College of Ceramics at Alfred University.

Opening Reception: Thurs. Feb. 11, 2010 5:30 pm – 8:00 pm.
