Pleased to Meet You: a survey of portraiture in contemporary art is a unique art collaboration of eleven emerging Upstate artists. Each artist has completed two pieces to display in the show: a self-portrait, and a portrait of another participating artist chosen at random. In addition, a twelfth artist has created a video piece that incorporates the images of the other eleven artists. The finished works encompass traditional realist paintings, collage, photography, beadwork and more, and represent innovative interpretations of what a portrait is and what it means to depict a person through art. It also offers an intriguing perspective into the concept of how we view ourselves vs. how others view us. Please join us at the event reception sponsored by Countybank, enjoy a glass of wine, food from Latitude, live music by Lorn Clark and Adam Reece of High Valley Acoustics, interesting conversation, and thought-provoking artwork. ***During the reception, be sure to purchase a raffle ticket for your chance to become an "Instant Collector.” Each artist has contributed a small piece to the contest and the winner will walk away with all 12 original works to jumpstart their collection. These pieces will be on display during the reception and the winning ticket drawn at the end of the evening, must be present to win. $5 for a single ticket, $20 for 5 tickets, $100 for an arms-length of tickets.*** |
